Silicon Valley Independent Living Center (SVILC) is the only Independent Living Center serving Santa Clara County. In just the past 10 years, SVILC has increased the independence of nearly 10,000 community members with disabilities. We do this by offering a wide array of services including: information and referral, peer support, independent living skills training, advocacy, deinstitutionalization and youth leadership.

When you donate to SVILC you are supporting our community-driven economic self-sufficiency. That is, that our community is the source of our own strength financially. Your tax-deductible donation allows us to further our mission of supporting the independence and full inclusion of people with disabilities.

We offer three methods from which you can choose to donate to SVILC.

1) Online: Your donation is secure using PayPal. (You do not have to have a PayPal Account).

Donate Your Vehicle While Helping SVILC

Get a tax deduction while financially supporting the programs and services provided by SVILC for people with disabilities in Santa Clara County. Please tell all your friends and family about our vehicle donation program!We pick-up free of charge to donors all over the country at your home, office, dealership or repair shop! Thinking of replacing a vehicle soon? Boats can also be donated. Your vehicle can be running or not.

Our vehicle donation program is made possible through our partnership with Donate For Charity.  When you are ready to donate your vehicle, you may call Donate For Charity toll-free at (866) 392-4483 or donate on-line at their website: www.donateforcharity.com

 By donating your vehicle to our charity:

1.   Helps to financially support SVILC with unrestricted funds.
2.   You receive auction sales price of your vehicle as a tax deduction, or $500, whichever is the greater amount. The money from these sales can be the lifeblood of our charity work.
3.   Avoid the possibility of receiving a low trade-in value from a dealer, the anxiety and hassle of selling to a private-party, and this program allows you a way to provide money to SVILC even if your vehicle has mechanical problems.

If you decide to donate your vehicle:

1.   It will be picked up free of charge anywhere and you don’t have to be present.
2.   Many of our auction yards have bidders competing from all over the world so we are able to get high wholesale prices for even non running cars.  Older model cars are picked up by our nationwide salvage yards.

Volunteer Your Time
SVILC welcomes and appreciates your interest in helping people with disabilities gain greater independence. SVILC relies on the generosity of time and spirit of local community members and offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. Your talents in the following areas can help us make a difference. Contact Chau Mai by phone at 408.894.9091 or email at chaum@svilc.org for more information on becoming a volunteer. You must be high school-aged or older to volunteer at SVILC.

• Help with database management, copying, filing, and other general office activities
• Assist with/manage the production of a semi-yearly newsletter
• Help with event planning and coordination
• Support special projects (individually determined based on agency need)
