The Silicon Valley Independent Living Center (SVILC) is a private, Consumer-driven, nonprofit corporation that offers quality services to individuals with disabilities in Silicon Valley.
SVILC is unique in that it is the only Independent Living Center in Santa Clara County. It is also the only agency in the area that provides comprehensive services for people with all types of disabilities. SVILC Consumers have physical, mental/emotional, cognitive, visual, and hearing disabilities. The organization serves nearly 800 people each year.
SVILC strives to eliminate attitudinal, physical, and communication barriers faced by people with disabilities as they work towards independence and full integration in their communities. The programs and services available at SVILC meet a variety of independent living needs. In addition, SVILC offers classes, workshops, support groups, and recreational activities.
SVILC's multiple services are easily accessible at locations in both San Jose & Gilroy.

Cheryl L. Cairns, SVILC's Executive Director for the past 23 years, passed away suddenly on 2/11/08. Cheryl's visionary spirit and leadership consistently pushed SVILC to the forefront of disability issues in Santa Clara County . The Board, Staff, and Consumers of SVILC are deeply saddened by this loss but continue to work diligently to uphold the excellent programs and services that SVILC is known for.
