"I'm learning a lot from SVILC. Importantly, I'm learning how to keep a positive attitude."

Counseling Services

SVILC Counseling Services often play an important role for Consumers and their families as they deal with a wide range of emotional issues and concerns. The counselors support Consumers' personal growth and promote the development of self-advocacy skills. They address concerns that may interfere with Consumers' efforts towards achieving greater independence. Counselors can also offer tips on coping techniques and stress reduction strategies for both Consumers and family members.
Low-cost counseling and psychotherapy are available to Consumers and the non-disabled community. Appointments are available mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday and Thursday evenings until 7:00 p.m. Click here for more information on counseling services for caregivers and others.

People with disabilities, chronic or acute illness, or those who are experiencing stress or emotional difficulties may benefit from SVILC Counseling Services.

SVILC Counseling Interns have a Masters Degree in a counseling-related field and are in the process of becoming licensed professionals. Applications are now being accepted for counseling interns. Click here for more information on becoming a Counseling Intern.
