SVILC consumers into meaningful employment

For many people, independence includes meaningful employment. As SVILC Consumers prepare to enter the workforce, they often need training and support. The Vocational Services Department at SVILC offers comprehensive services that help Consumers find and maintain employment. SVILC's Vocational Services include training and assessment & employment services.

The Vocational Services Department consistently strives to increase the number of Consumers it serves. Recently, the department exceeded its Consumers to be served quota with the Department of Rehabilitation by 40 percent. By eliminating barriers to employment and increasing chances at successful job retention, SVILC assists more Consumers in joining the workforce and contributing to the economy. After an extremely competitive application process, SVILC's Vocational Services Department was recently selected as a recipient of United Way Silicon Valley (UWSV) Strategic Investment Funds. The UWSV's investment strategy is committed to distributing funds in response to recently identified community needs. Through the 2004-2005 Community Needs Assessment, United Way identified the following two strategies: stability and self-sufficiency.

The fund distribution process is designed to be needs driven and seeks to focus limited resources on services that provide maximum impact to achieve UWSV's five year goals and outcomes. Click below for more information on UWSV.
